Suarez did not let Liverpool down, says Rodgers

The Reds boss says that it is "a shame" that the striker is no longer at Anfield but backs his side to move forward without last season's Premier League top scorer nonetheless
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that former striker Luis Suarez did not let the club down despite the Uruguay international's departure for Barcelona.

The controversial forward has completed a €88 million move to Camp Nou although he cannot feature for his new club until October as he remains banned from all football activity for four months after biting Giorgio Chiellini during his nation's clash with Italy at the World Cup.

Rodgers insists that Suarez did do badly by the club but backs the Reds to move forward without last season’s top scorer.

TRANSFER TALK: ALL THE LATEST RUMOURS
14/1 Liverpool are 14/1 with PaddyPower to win their first five games of the Premier League season
"Luis hasn't let me or the club down at all - he gave everything for Liverpool," he told a press conference.

"Of course there have been issues but they're in the past. He was a brilliant player for us and for me and I will always see him as a good man and a good friend.

"It's a shame he's not here but Liverpool, as a club, is bigger than any individual and we will move forward without him.

"It's really exciting going into this season. We've qualified for the Champions League and brought in some good players. Hopefully we'll progress."

The Liverpool manager also discussed captain Steven Gerrard's decision to retire from international football, which he feels will benefit the Reds.

"I've spent a lot of time speaking with Steven and I know how much it means to him to play for and captain England - he was a wonderful captain," Rodgers added.

"But Liverpool means everything to him and there's certainly no doubt missing out on international football means he will be fresher and at his optimum level as often as possible for us."

Immobile good enough for Bayern, says Trapattoni

The veteran coach has little doubt his compatriot will become an instant hit in the Bundesliga and has nothing but praise for Jurgen Klopp
Former Bayern Munich coach Giovanni Trapattoni believes new Borussia Dortmund signing Ciro Immobile could have been a hit with the Bundesliga champions.

BVB signed Immobile from Juventus and Torino after losing Robert Lewandowski to Bayern on a free transfer and Trapattoni has little doubt that his compatriot will succeed at Signal Iduna Park.

Aurier undergoes Paris Saint-Germain medical ahead of €10 million move

The Cote d'Ivoire international, previously linked with Arsenal, underwent a series of physical tests early on Wednesday ahead of his proposed switch to the Ligue 1 champions
Toulouse defender Serge Aurier is set to complete his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain after undergoing a medical with the French champions early on Wednesday.

The Cote d'Ivoire right-back had previously been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal as they sought a replacement for Bacary Sagna, who has joined Manchester City.

However, the Premier League outfit eventually opted to sign Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United, allowing PSG to steal a march on the signing of the 21-year-old, who is expected to cost up to €10 million.

With Chistophe Jallet set to leave the Ligue 1 champions, Laurent Blanc was keen to add a new defender to their squad to fight it out with Gregory van der Wiel for the position of right-back.

The Red Devils' executive vice-chairman believes they have the financial clout to smash Gareth Bale's €100 million transfer and says they remain the biggest club in the world

Ed Woodward says can afford to break the world transfer record of €100 million as the club seek to bolster their squad ahead of the 2014-15 season.

The Red Devils, now under the management of Dutch boss Louis van Gaal, have already spent over €70m on left-back Luke Shaw and midfielder Ander Herrera this summer.

Executive vice-chairman Woodward says Manchester United they are willing to spend big money in order to recruit further marquee signings - and could perhaps eclipse the fee Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale last summer - with the club currently preparing a €54m bid for Juventus star Arturo Vidal.

The force public relations officer, CSP Frank Mba, made this known yesterday during a media briefing where he said the police only issued advisory notice enjoining citizens to apply caution in the said rallies.
The FCT commissioner of police, Mr Joseph Mbu, during a briefing on Monday said the police had placed a ban on any form of rallies over the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, adding that the protesters were constituting a nuisance in the nation’s capital.
“The Police High Command wishes to inform the general public that the Force has not issued any order banning peaceful assemblies/protests anywhere in Nigeria,” Mba said. “However against the backdrop of current security challenges in the country, coupled with a recent intelligence report of a likely infiltration and hijack of otherwise innocuous and peaceful protests by some criminal elements having links with insurgents, the police only issued advisory notice, enjoining citizens to apply caution in the said rallies, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.”
Reminding citizens of the earlier position of the Force on peaceful rallies, which he said the police high command regards as the constitutional and democratic rights of Nigerians, Mba said the inspector-general of police, Mohammed Abubakar, stressed the need for the organizers of such rallies to ensure that they sought proper advice and guidance from the police before engaging in any such exercise so as to avoid any unpleasant circumstances.
“The IGP calls on the general public to see the present position of the Force as a necessary sacrifice for the peace our nation needs, as security is a collective responsibility.
“Consequently, citizens are strongly advised to reconsider their positions on the issues of rallies and protests in the FCT until the existing threats are appropriately neutralized and removed from our midst by relevant security agencies,” he said - See more at: http://naja4us.blogspot.com/2014/06/ban-on-chibok-girls-protest-igp.html#sthash.GzS9fB0P.dpuf

Rivers State Police Command. •Ifeoma with the stolen goods on is hand

It was the end of the road for a 32-year-old woman alleged to be engaged in stealing in Port Harcourt,  Rivers State, following her arrest by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command.
•Ifeoma with the stolen goods

•Ifeoma with the stolen goods

The single parent was arrested in her Ikoyi residence  in Lagos, for allegedly stealing goods worth N2.9 million.
Described as a socialite, and judging from classy appearance, soft-spoken Ifeoma William Iheanacho does not look like a criminal.

Aside this physical feature is the fact that the suspect, popularly called Ify, possesses an international passport which showed she has made trips to Hungary, Dubai, China and has even lived in Hong Kong for three years. She also speaks different languages and quite knowledgeable about many things.

The suspect, from Mbieri community in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo  State , according to the Rivers State Police Command, visited  Zara Boutique  at  4, Mbonu Street, D/line, Port Harcourt, on March 26, 2014, posing as a wealthy customer and a friend of the owner, one Mrs Oroma Amadi. Prior to the visit, Ify  reportedly acquainted herself with the owner.

On that day, the shop owner was out. “She entered the shop  asking to be shown the female trousers area. The unsuspecting salesgirl, Kemeagbeye Rachael, 21, led the suspect to the area where she selected two pairs of trousers and bargained but was dissatisfied with the price  and requested to speak to the  shop owner. When the salesgirl put a call through to her ‘madam’, Ifeoma spoke with her and consequently the unsuspecting   salesgirl agreed  to her demand,” a police source narrated.

“After conversing with Mrs Amadi on phone, Ifeoma  didn’t give phone back to the sales girl. Instead she asked her to go into the inner part of the store to get some other wares for her. While Rachel was busy sorting out other things as directed , Ifeoma proceeded to edit the ‘madam’s’ contact on the phone which was still with her, by replacing the  number with her’s. Then she gave the phone back and minutes later, she sent a text message to the girl posing as her boss. The message sent read thus ‘ I’m in a meeting , Mrs Jay is already in the shop. ‘Pls give her what she wants, I will pick the money on my way to the shop’.”

Shortly after that another message came  which read ‘ also give her the hair box’. To further convince the salesgirl, she was said to have asked her if she had  received any text message from the owner of the shop in respect of the transaction, to which she responded in the affirmative.

At that point, the sales girl,  in her statement to the police, said Ifeoma started  packing  the wares selected. She allegedly selected assorted wares ranging from  female bags to  clothes, wrist watches, male/female shoes and shirts estimated at N2.9 million and left the boutique.

Hell, literally let loose when owner of the boutique arrived ,only to be confronted with the unexpected.   Her sales girl was stunned beyond description  on noticing that she had been fooled!

The case was immediately reported to the Rivers State Special Anti-Robbery Squad  which  initially found  the theft  a difficult nut to crack because of  its  clueless nature. However, the breakthrough the operatives needed came two months later when they were able to track the suspect’s  call data through a complex set of operation.

Police sources said: “ One Ikechukwu Onyema, aka Van Damme , later discovered to have bought the stolen goods from Ifeoma, was contacted. His confessional statement led us to the suspect’s  place in Lagos  from where she was  transferred to Port Harcourt . Some of the stolen goods were recovered from her.

funsho williams again justice denied

Again, has the judiciary - dubbed appropriately as the last hope of the common man - lived up to the public expectations? Could it have in the course of trial insisted that the right things be done in order to get justice out in the matter? Or is the court simply bound by the obviously ramshackle evidence presented before it, and upon which it can only dismiss the prosecution’s case?

This is the time Nigeria, particularly the law enforcers and the legal profession to address these posers. Not only is the country pushing its luck too far in failing to punish crime appropriately, it is also rapidly embracing complete anarchy. For a start, an investigation that took seven years is faulty and is prone to producing unreliable facts and evidence, having regard to fading human memories, natural occurrences like death, and illness, as well as distractions by stakeholders.
