Topshop slammed for use of super skinny mannequin in London store which has legs HALF the size of those belonging to an 8-10 dress sized girl

A Topshop mannequin has sparked outrage after a shopper tweeted a picture of her slim friend standing next to it.
Becky Hopper, 23, was shopping with her friend Georgia Gibby in the St Stephen's Shopping Centre branch when she took the photo highlighting a stark difference in body size.
Georgia's slim legs appear twice the size of the extremely thin Topshop mannequin's in the image captioned: 'The girl on the left is a size 8/10. #Topshop #poorbodyimage #irresponsible #fashion #highstreet'

The pair, from Hull, have since found that the photo has been retweeted more than 5,200 times.
Becky told MailOnline: 'We're overwhelmed by the response and general positive attitude towards this issue and the photo.
'We aren't out to body shame skinny girls, far from it. We're hoping to encourage Topshop to show a more diverse range of mannequins, all sizes should be celebrated.
'This super skinny image misrepresents the average UK female as the UK average clothes size for women is a 16.
'Many girls can be healthy whilst looking similar to this mannequin, however, most cannot.
'We simply wish for Topshop to acknowledge that and appreciate that things like this can act as a trigger for those with eating disorders.'

She added: 'Teenage girls are Topshop's target audience, one of the most influential groups of people there are - we owe it to young girls to be more responsible with how we portray body image.'
Ex-Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten ‏@gemmaoaten tweeted: 'I'm sorry @Topshop but how is this size zero mannequin sending a remotely safe & responsible image? Remove. Simple.'
Her comment has been retweeted 281 times.
A spoof Twitter account of the mannequin in question has been created, under the name Gloria Quinn.

Topshop are not alone in being called out on their ultra thin mannequins.
Influential retailers such as Primark and La Perla have also come under fire for using mannequins with concave stomachs, bony ribcages and protruding hipbones.
Back in July, Scottish shopper Mel Fraser Twitter-shamed Primark and after getting more than 1,400 shares, the store swiftly removed the skiny mannequins from stores.
Similarly, La Perla's lingerie clad skinny mannequins were pulled after a scathing tweet.
Mailonline contacted Topshop for a comment but were told no representative was available.
