QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has labelled the public spat between Adel Taarabt and manager Harry Redknapp an 'embarrassment'.
Fernandes
says he has spoken with Redknapp and Taarabt after the QPR boss accused
the midfielder of being 'three stone overweight' following the 3-2

The
25-year-old responded by posing for photographs lifting up his shirt on

‘As
a club, we are fully aware of stories in the press over the last few
days regarding Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt,' a QPR statement read.
'We
regret these issues being played out in public and both Harry Redknapp
and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding
their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.
'On
behalf of the club, I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for
the embarrassment this has caused and confirm that the issue has been
dealt with internally.
'The
club’s entire focus is now on the Aston Villa fixture next Monday and
hopefully after a tough few days we can turn a negative into a positive
and build on Sunday’s improved display.’

On
Monday Fernandes tweeted: 'Professional players must be fit. If I do a
job, I'm ready to do the job. Full stop. The bucks stop at you, it's
your body and your career.'
Fernandes later deleted the tweet the same day Taarabt claimed Redknapp was using him as a scapegoat for QPR's dire start to the Premier League season.
Taarabt
was missing from the squad for the loss against Liverpool at Loftus
Road that saw four goals in the final eight minutes and left QPR bottom
with just four points.
On Tuesday Fernandes wrote on Twitter:
'Stay positive and be happy and smile. We got a great club and great
people in the club and more coming. Sunday was the best I ever seen QPR
play.'
